Sure, religion tends to be a turbulent issue around here on a campus as sensitive to differences as ours. As much as we try to be inclusive and understand the needs and desires of others, sometimes we slip. That said, there are a few distinctly correct and distinctly incorrect ways of maneuvering around the landmine that is religious talk. We know better than to consider ourselves masters of the latter (and would never take that title away from these people), but there is one way that you absolutely can't go wrong on the matter: pointing out the Eastern Orthodox Christians.
According to Wikipedia, real-life celebs like John Belushi and Willie McCovey were/are (respectively) Eastern Orthodox Christians! As are a whole mess of predictably Greek political people (Olympia Snowe, Michael Dukakis, George Stephanopolous, Rod Blagojevich [actually Serbian], Phil Angelides [ew], George Tenet [ew], Sarbanes of Sarbanes-Oxley fame, the late Paul Tsongas), a Samoan football player, and Tom Hanks!!
Moving to steamier pastures, Wikipedia also identifies the girls of t.A.T.u, George Michael, and David Gahan of Depeche Mode.
That said, we need a little help identifying the brilliant Eastern Orthodox stars and encouraging a bustling community within our Harvard pastures. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
*Disclaimer: This isn't meant to be a malicious or bigoted article, on the contrary- we just think Eastern Orthodox Christians are cool and deserve more publicity. We also like the architecture. Think of this as a religious version of HUDS' "Savory Spotlight"
