We don't consider making it to 10,000 hits a mere stroke of luck, or some sort of anomaly in the system. Nay, this milestone is so much more than that.
It means Harvard students are ego-centric, overly-stressed, and, conversely, many are just bored. They need the entertainment. Gossip Geek, for those of you who seem to be completely unable to put two and two together, is actually, much like psychic John Edward, boxer Johnnie Edwards, presidential candidate John Edwards, and crazy Puritan Johnathan Edwards, for entertainment purposes only. We are the Pat O'Briens of Harvard (minus the sketchy phone sex thing). We are the Perez Hiltons (minus the whole gay... well, nevermind). We are Miss Cleo, and we can't wait to go visit her in jail. As much as we love him, we are no Anderson Coopers; we are fierce and intrepid, but never do we take ourselves so seriously as to send you "postcards from the edge" and jump into hurricanes. The only hurricanes we jump into are Spee parties.
Of course, this is all preaching to the choir, and our frivolity in action has not stopped many from understanding the very relevant message this blog is spreading of, um... love and... that other important thing.
Now that we've completely demoralized ourselves in an Oscar-worthy thank you speech (thanks, mom!), here are five lessons which we've learned in the span of these 10,000 hits:
1. comedians are more honest than fashionistas.
2. Bored@Lamont is like a pool of piranhas that live off of Harvard celebrity names. Toss our blog in there and they jump up off the blog like kangaroos (but, you know, water kangaroos, because they're piranhas).
3. American laws are awesome (thanks tipsters!).
4. If you continuously feature sexy people in your blog, they will talk about you on their TV show.
5. There is never a time when gratuitous blurry photographs and 1970s imagery become excessive.
Keep gossiping, friends! Remember to send all your tips to gossipgeek@gmail.com, and, if you've got the courage and have a piece written, send it in! We'll only give you as much credit as you want us to. We're nothing without you, the readers :).
Love,
GG Executive Staff: Sebby, Google, Humphrey, and Mozambique (and special guest Enigmatic Seal)
